A tail wind and waves pushed me northwest along the coast of Shikoku, paddling from point to point. A high light was a shashimi lunch: the best tuna ever. I spent the night in a camping in a mobile home with the boat on the dock just below me.

Day five was harder because of a headwind and while eating my dried fish at lunch, I broke a tooth, meaning that a dentist would be necessary. I spent the night camped on the tiny, uninhabited island named Me, with little wind, and just a bit of rain. The sun set behind Shodoshima, a pivotal place in my novel, Shikoku.
Le cinquième jour a été plus difficile à cause d’un vent de face et une dent cassée. Une visite chez le dentiste était nécessaire. J’ai passé la nuit à camper sur une petite île non habitée, nommée Me, avec peu de vent et juste juste un peu de pluie. The sixth day was difficult. Foggy with rain on the horizon, but little wind. Thunder, lightning and heavy rain motivated my efforts. So I headed for the city of Shido to look for accommodation.

Arrived unannounced, cold, wet and bleeding from scratches caused by a ladder rung breaking as I tried to climb out of the kayak. I was given a tatami room, a yukata, hot Sencha tea, and a soaking bath followed by a sumptuous dinner in my room
Arrivé, non annoncé, froid, mouillé et saignant des rayures causées par la rupture d’un échelon d’échelle alors que j’essayais de sortir du kayak. On m’a donné une chambre tatami, un yukata, du thé Sencha et un bain chaud, suivi d’un somptueux dîner dans ma chambre.
